Art N Sole, Music, Drag Queens & Art Oh My!
Two of Canada’s renowned Drag Queens – who formerly competed in Canada’s Drag Race in 2020 – will be taking the virtual stage July 23, 2021 to support Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB) and the Art Gallery of Windsor (AGW).
BOA and Juice Boxx will join musical acts; Tara Watts, Madeline Doornaert, Ron Leary, Tony Coates and Max Marshall, and an online art auction for a lively and engaging night for “Art N Sole,” a joint fundraising event.
Tickets start at $30 and are available online.
Over the last 16 months the arts and mental health have been negatively impacted. The vision of the event is to provide an evening of entertainment and arts in support of these two important organizations.
“The creative arts are a critical support for positive mental health,” says Jennifer Matotek, Executive Director of the Art Gallery of Windsor. “The gallery is enormously proud to collaborate with CMHA on this important fundraising initiative. It is crucial, now more than ever, to support mental health and promote civic engagement and creativity. Both our organizations have a shared goal: to enhance our shared quality of life in Windsor-Essex.”
The online art auction is open from July 14 to 28. There is certain to be something for every budget with works of art donated by local artists and students.
“We hope that people will gather in small groups and participate in this fun-filled evening from the comfort of home. What’s better than some Drag Queens, local musicians and local artists donating their works in support mental health and the arts?” says Kim Willis, Director, Communications & Mental Health Promotion, CMHA-WECB.
Sponsors include: Bell Media, McTague Law Firm LLP, Nancy Johns Gallery & Framing and Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards.
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB) is the lead provider and advocate of specialized community mental health and addiction services integrated with comprehensive primary health care services.
