ON THE COVER — If You Renovate It, They Will Come — Page 18. A play on words from the 1989 Kevin Costner movie Field Of Dreams — “If you build it, he will come ” — is the perfect way to describe our commercial renovation cover story. Our title is meant to show that a newly built business will bring out customers, whether it is built from the ground-up or an old, vacant property is fixed up. Of course we all know many factors go into creating and maintaining a successful business. However, the location and the overall look inside and out of the business make a lasting impression on clients and employees alike and are extremely important. Using Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill as an example with three new locations planned for our region, along with information from local renovation professionals, we explore how remodelling can bring out the best in business.
INDIVIDUALS PICTURED: Peter Radu (left), Owner of Radu Construction and Karthikeyan (Karthik) Subramaniam of Kings Business Group, the owner of five Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill franchises, currently operating in Windsor Essex and Chatham Kent, with three more set to open in the coming months. LOCATION: The new Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill, 32 Main Street West in Kingsville, open since mid-July. Radu Construction completely gutted the main dining area and redid everything — the ceiling, bar, walls, floors, bathrooms and outside walls — to breathe new life into the former Chuckwagon Family Restaurant. The bike stand pictured was built by Nate Bevington of Nate’s Custom Carpentry.
