Canada Day Windsor – Essex, Friday, July 1, 2016

To kick off celebrations, Canada Day Windsor – Essex, check out the Windsor Canada Day Parade. The parade will start at 11:00 am on Wyandotte Street East at Monmouth Road and will travel west on Wyandotte Street to Glengarry Avenue. Learn about canned food drive during parade.

“Hiram Walker 200” Temporary Exhibit – Museum Windsor’s Chimczuk Museum has partnered with The Canadian Club Brand Centre and The Walkerville Times to present “Hiram Walker 200” – a temporary exhibit that tells some of the Hiram Walker story through photographs and artifacts from the industrialist’s personal and professional life. The exhibit will run from July 1 to August 31, 2016, and is accessible during regular operating hours when you purchase admission to the Chimczuk Museum. In honour of the exhibit launch and Canada Day, the Chimczuk Museum will offer FREE ADMISSION on Friday, July 1, 2016.

Walkerville Community Event: The Walkerville BIA, working with its partners and stakeholders, presents a two-day celebration of the town founders’ life on Friday, July 1, 2016 and Saturday, July 2, 2016. From street closures, extended patios and the annual Canada Day Parade; to tours of the Canadian Club Brand Centre and Willistead Manor, the weekend is jam-packed with ways for guests of all ages to celebrate Hiram Walker. The Royal Canadian Legion Br 255 is having a Huge Canada Day Celebration on July 1 from 1:00 PM- 7:00 PM located at 5645 Wyandotte Street East. Come on in for some good food, fun, live music , Belly Dancers, great people, prizes and much more . Every body is Welcome . This is an all ages event.

The Town of Amherstburg hosts Canada Day Celebrations at Fort Malden National Historic Site on Friday, July 1. The popular 5 km Canada D’eh run kicks off the festivities in beautiful downtown Amherstburg at 9:00 am. Show your pride with red and white while you enjoy FREE activities at Fort Malden all day long! New this year; birds of prey show, falconry meet and greet, pony rides, live entertainment, get a tattoo or fire a musket like the soldiers did 200 years ago and so much more!

Back by popular demand is the Amherstburg Ice Cream Festival at Toddy Jones Park where the splash pad will be open along with lots of other interactive fun. Of course the night is topped off with a big bang of FIREWORKS along the shoreline at approximately 10:00 p.m. “Canada Day at Fort Malden continues to be an all-time favorite family tradition” says Jennifer Ibrahim; Tourism Coordinator “The spectacular fireworks along the river at dusk are one of the highlights. People are encouraged to bring their cameras and blankets and enjoy the show!”

Leamington Canada Day Fireworks Celebration takes place at Seacliff Park. Live entertainment will begin at 7:00 PM by musical guests Easton Weston followed by a spectacular fireworks display at approximately 10:05 PM. Everyone is welcome! Please note that fireworks will be launched from Seacliff Beach, therefore access to Seacliff Beach will be closed at 5:00 PM.
