The WindsorEssex Community Foundation Partner Survey Shows Local Charities Negatively Affected By COVID-19

A survey of local charities has found that many charities are closed to the public, the community needs are growing, and donations and financials supports are down. The most vulnerable in our community are not receiving the services they need when they need it the most. The WECF conducted the survey of 48 local charities to assess the needs of charitable organizations in Windsor Essex County. The results are concerning and require immediate action.

Results are shown below:

  • 74.51% responded that the need grew
  • 81.24% of respondents are not serving the public
  • 64.58% of respondents are in need of financial assistance

The WindsorEssex Community Foundation (WECF) established the WECF Emergency Fund. This fund, initiated with a contribution from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation and supported by generous contributions by local philanthropists and corporate partners will support charities across Windsor Essex County providing front-line services to vulnerable populations whose staff, volunteers, programs, operations and revenue has been negatively affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

“In challenging times like these, it is more important than ever for the community to work together, and support one another. The WindsorEssex Community Foundation supports our  organizations, individuals and families that are pulling their resources together to help in this time of need through our W/E Cares and our emergency response fund”. Lisa Kolody, Executive
Director at the WECF
