You Deserve To Have Fun During Quarantine! (Staying optimistic through this pandemic. Coronavirus Part 3)

We are all in an unprecedented time in our life, but this does not mean we have to be afraid. It is what it is and we must comply with what is happening, so we can save other people’s lives. One of them is going into quarantine.

But, who says that we can’t have fun when we are isolating? I am so proud of you for staying home to save lives. Okay, I am proud of me too! So reward yourself. Time to rest and enjoy yourself isolating and social distancing.

Here are some fun and enjoyable things you can do while you are away from the world.

  1. Listen to classical music
Classical music is very peaceful, soothing and calming. It will help you relax during these stressful times. I love to listen to it while I am doing my work.
So sit down on your sofa, relax and enjoy a nice glass of red wine while you listen to beautiful music to your ears.
  2. Dance Dance Dance
If I am cleaning the house or working out, I tend to change it up to uplifting music, like hard rock and inspirational, to get more motivated. Listen to whatever you feel is good for you.
I love listening to the Rocky 4 soundtrack, Guns N’ Roses, and KISS. I am currently listening to “Welcome to the jungle” as I type this. I recommend leaving the music on all day at a volume you like, as it takes away the quiet in the house.
  3. Get inspired
Reading an inspirational book can inspire you to be more positive in your life. It can help you change your situation and even see the bright side of things.
  4. Make comedy movies your best friend
Kingpin, The Hangover, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura etc. Whatever it may be, comedy movies have an impact on making people feel more at ease. It can help with depression and help you alleviate your anxiety symptoms. Netflix have some pretty great, fun movies to check out.
So as Jim Carrey would say, “AAAAAALLL RIGHTY THEN”.
  5. Focus on Goals
This is an opportunity to set goals when this quarantine is done and over with. Grab a positive notebook journal and start jotting down the things you want to achieve and accomplish. Write down anything that is going to help you continue moving forward and making positive progress in your life.
  6. The power of being creative
Being creative is a great way of turning your imagination into reality. Maybe you might want to clean and redecorate your home. Have fun with it. Make it cozy, comfy, happy and inspirational. Declutter and organize your home. Get rid of things that you do not use. Maybe you want to order something cool online that will look elegant in your home. Do whatever you want, but most importantly be happy when you are doing it.
  7.  Play video games
Video games can help you not only keep busy, but playing them is enjoyable and great fun. Get games from apps on your phone. If you have any game consoles, then play away.
  8. Keep your body strong from the inside and out
Exercise is enjoyable and it helps you stay strong and healthy. In addition to a great diet, you will feel good about yourself. There are so many bodyweight exercises you can do. As I mentioned in my previous article, you can do bodyweight exercises like push-ups, pull-ups, squats and abdominal exercises. You should also eat a healthy diet consisting of lean proteins, complex carbohydrate fruits, veggies, and healthy fats. Do not forget to drink lots of water.
  9. Cook
Cooking is so much fun and enjoyable. I am no cook, but I learn from YouTube and blogs. It is great. I make protein pancakes, protein cookies and muffins. I love it. Again, be creative, enjoy yourself and make some delicious and yummy foods.
  10. DIYT (Do it yourself tutorials)
You can watch tutorials online about things you have always wanted to learn and do. Knowledge is indeed power. Learning something new every day is a great way to increase your overall knowledge. Learn about anything that fascinates you and makes you happy.
  11. Face-Time, texting and calling
This is very important, especially when you self-quarantine. Keeping in touch with friends, families or romantic partners, ensures that we are not alone, we are loved and we are all together.
  12. Go for a walk
You are allowed to go for a walk, as long as you keep your distance from others. Getting some fresh air is very good and sometimes all we need is a little breather. You can even sit on your front porch or in your backyard. Remember to encourage other outside walkers with positivity.
  13. Painting or drawing
Painting and drawing is therapeutic for your mental health. It keeps you focused and your mind busy and it is a great way to deal with stress.
  14. Pizza baby!
OMG my mouth is salivating just thinking about pizza. Seriously, who does not eat pizza? Pizza is everything the world needs in my opinion. Pizza is a pop culture just like having coffee.
Mmmmm, Pizzaaaa! Eating pizza feels so good…so grab a slice today for takeout or delivery options from the best pizza places around … all in Windsor Essex!
  15. I am so pretty oh so pretty. Dress up, take a few selfies and send them to your friends and families on social media. Let’s go fishing for some compliments shall we?

Here are some things you should remind yourself NOT to do. Your home should have the no negative rules. Anything that is negative must go. Here is what you need to stay away from.

  • NO WEB MD –They can make you feel more fearful
  • NO Horror movies – This can trigger anxiety in those who suffer with it. So stay away from Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees or any horror icons that can give you nightmares.
  • Limit caffeine or no caffeine at all – Caffeine is a natural stimulant and can make you feel more anxious and edgy if taken in abundance. You know your body and how it responds to caffeine. So go according to how you feel.
  • No negative thoughts allowed – This is your time to enjoy, and the last thing you need is your peace of mind being interrupted by nasty thoughts. Keep your thoughts healthy, happy and positive.

I hope this was helpful to you. At the end of the day, you should be doing whatever is making you happier and keeps you moving forward in your life.
It may be a time of uncertainty, but you can choose to make your days happier, if you want to. So take charge and control of your life. Make the best of what you are dealing with and I promise you will rise above this and win.

God bless you and take care. Never give up. Keep moving forward. Believe in yourself. Be a Legend.

Sincerely Danny Gautama (The Fighter)
