City of Windsor Announces Third Sanitizer Product Distribution
Since late May, the City of Windsor has been providing hand sanitizer on a complimentary basis for area small businesses, as well as not-for-profit, cultural and service organizations.
A third round of sanitizer product distribution will occur on Tuesday July 7, 2020. Any small business or organization that may have already received an allotment during one of the two previous distributions are welcomed to participate once again. Additionally, any non-profit community, cultural, religious or service groups are also welcome to seek an allotment of sanitizer product next week as the community continues to re-open.
While supplies last, and to assist local small businesses and organizations in their Stage 2 re-start efforts, the City of Windsor will provide free hand sanitizer to local groups through a no contact drive-thru at the WFCU Centre on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 9am to 1pm. Drivers are asked to enter through the intersection of McHugh Street and Mickey Renaud Way and then follow the signage to the depot tents.
Product on offer is produced to World Health Organization standards and will be made available in 375-millilitre bottles supplied by Highbury Canco in Leamington, up to a maximum of 8 bottles per organization. Depending on turnout, the City of Windsor has enough product available to distribute to at least 625 local groups and businesses next week.
“Now that our community has entered Stage 2 of the Provincial Re-opening Framework, the City of Windsor is committed to doing everything possible to support small businesses as part of the economic re-start,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “From eliminating patio fees and enabling curbside cafes, to closing streets for open-air markets and deferring property taxes, City Council is using every tool at our disposal to help local businesses recover.”

The City of Windsor says it is proud to partner with Essex County communities that remain in Stage 1 of the Province of Ontario’s Re-opening Framework by providing hand sanitizer product for area businesses and not-for-profit entities.
Any small businesses and any non-profit, cultural, religious or service groups are encouraged to seek an allotment of sanitizer product next week as these communities continue to prepare for eventual economic re-opening.

“We stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbours who are still dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak within the region’s agriculture community,” said Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens. “We continue to work with federal and provincial officials, who are now providing dedicated resources and leadership to help deal with this public health emergency. We don’t know when Leamington and Kingsville will be able to enter Stage 2, but this distribution will help local businesses prepare for that re-opening.”
