Crews & Brews Raises over $72K for Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation

The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation (WCCF) along with GL Heritage Brewing Co. and The Garage Gym (founders of Crews & Brews), have announced the Crews & Brews 20 for 20 Event raised over $72,000!

Twenty-four local gyms and 9 breweries across Windsor-Essex joined forces to raise funds for Grow On Windsor by attempting to break the world record for the total number of people simultaneously performing burpees. “We didn’t break the world record, but we surpassed our fundraising goal and that’s even more important for the patients in our community!”, says Tony Smith, Crews & Brews Co-Founder.

Zoom technology brought together more than 540 participants at over 80 different locations across the community; the sense of togetherness and being connected was strong. The donations from the 20 for 20 Event will fund the purchase of the Blue Phantom in its entirety.

The Blue Phantom is a very important piece of radiation treatment equipment used at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre to measure several different characters of the radiation beam to ensure a safe and accurate delivery of treatment.

“We can’t thank Tony, Greg, and the entire community enough for what they have accomplished this year!”, says Houida Kassem, WCCF Executive Director.

Greg Grondin, Crews & Brews Co-Founder states, “Sunday was the anniversary of my father’s death. He is one of the main reasons why we organized Crews & Brews. It was incredible to see the community come together to honour my father and the many others who battle cancer.”
