Erie Shores HealthCare Announces New Chief Executive Officer

After a six-month search, the Board of Directors for Erie Shores HealthCare (ESHC) has announced the appointment of Kristin Kennedy as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The ESHC Board of Directors, in partnership with Waterhouse Executive Search, completed an extensive and in-depth exploration process with numerous skilled and experienced candidates.

Kennedy has worked in the healthcare sector for 25 years. Kennedy holds the designation as a Certified Health Executive (CHE) and a Masters of Health Management from McMaster University. She is enrolled in LLM Health Law degree program at Osgoode Hall Law School. McMaster University awarded Kennedy the Professional Achievement award in 2019, recognizing her career endeavors and achievements that have made a significant contribution to healthcare management.

This year Kennedy was one of seven Registered Nurses selected from over seventy applicants in Ontario to join the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee for the College of Nurse of Ontario. Kennedy is currently the VP Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive at ESHC and is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University.

“It is an honour to be selected as the next CEO of Erie Shores HealthCare,” said Kennedy. “Living in one of the communities that Erie Shores HealthCare serves, I firmly believe in its value and a strong footprint in Windsor-Essex County. I look forward to advancing our accomplishments as a hospital and further our collaborations with our many partners. I am most excited to start this next chapter in my career alongside the many dedicated and passionate staff and physicians I have worked with over the last three years.’

Kennedy is taking over from Dr. Ross Moncur, who has served as Interim Chief Executive Officer since May 2020. Dr. Moncur will remain with the Hospital in his role as Chief of Staff. ESHC praises Dr. Moncur for his tireless leadership and dedication to our staff, physicians, and the communities we serve.

Dr. Moncur is pleased to transition oversight of ESHC to Kennedy.

“This is an exciting day for Erie Shores,” he said. “We are fortunate to have a new CEO who has such a deep understanding of what makes this hospital so vital to our community. I sincerely look forward to continuing to work with Kristin as she turns her vision for the Hospital into reality.”

“Our hospital has selected an individual that has dedicated much of her life and career to putting patients, their families, and communities first. She has elevated Erie Shores HealthCare as a patient-focused community institution,” says Jeff Lewis, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Kristin will build on the great work that Dr. Moncur, she and the team have established during the challenging times of the pandemic. She will be a positive force in continuing to inspire and motivate both the leadership team, staff, and physicians to succeed for the betterment of Essex County.”

Kris Taylor, Vice-Chair of ESHC, says that he and the rest of the Board of Directors are delighted to have Kennedy transition as its next CEO. “Kristin’s background in healthcare, leadership, research, and law, coupled with her genuine passion for quality, innovation, and excellence will ensure that Erie Shores Healthcare continues on a strong path forward.”
