Local Dancer George Brothers Wins “Dancer of the Year” Title in Las Vegas

After spending two weeks in Las Vegas, local dancer George Brothers handed his one ‘Dancer of the Year’ title from Velocity Dance Conventions in for another ‘Dancer of the Year’ title with Hollywood Vibe Dance Conventions.

Last year, George Brothers, 18, held the Dancer of the Year title with Velocity Dance and had the opportunity to travel to numerous U.S. and Canadian cities. This past July, George passed his title on and Velocity Dance announced that George Brothers will be part of the “Pro” Program that is facilitated by Velocity Dance and their choreographers. While still in Las Vegas, George competed for Dancer of the Year title at Hollywood Vibe Dance Competition. He was the successful title winner competing against 25 other male dancers from across North America all vying for this prestigious title. George will now travel with Hollywood Vibe Dance Conventions. He holds this title for one year.

George’s training started only 10 years ago at Edmunds Towers School of Dance. His dance teachers quickly realized George had immense potential. His personality, his determination and his dedication to the many hours in the studio has paid off for this young dancer. “We are so proud of George Brothers, his hard work and passion for dance continues to take him new levels. He is a true inspiration to younger dancers, “says Dianne Edmunds, owner of Edmunds Towers School of Dance. A graduate from Walkerville Collegiate Institute – Creative Centre for the Arts, George graduated with honours and received The Janice Brode Award for Excellence in Dance for his leadership among his peers.

Last summer George had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to be featured in a music video, and has danced with various performing artists including Jordon Fisher, Madison Beer and Now United. George has had the good fortune to work with industry leading choreographers including Dee Caspary, Kyle Hanagami, Mitchel Federan, Whitney Bezzant, Dejan Tubic and Zachary Venegs. George has been a company member of ‘The Collective’ DanceMakers Inc., Revel Dance, Vibe Company, Border City Dance Company and Windsor Competitive Dance Company.

George has received many scholarships including Joffery Ballet School NYC Jazz Intensive and has attended Canada’s National Ballet School and Pace University Commercial Dance Intensive.

George is looking forward to the next year, as he represents Windsor and other local dancers on the North American stage as part of the Velocity Pro program, and Dancer of the Year for Hollywood Vibe. He always is eager to tell dancers and choreographers where he is from and he will continue to be a proud Windsorite no matter where his dance career takes him!
