Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex Resumes Building with Support from Luxury Online Auction
Thanks to an anonymous donor Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex received over $1,000,000 in luxury home décor items. These items will be featured on a “Build by Design – A Luxury Online Auction.” Registration is open with bidding taking place from September 24-28, raising funds for affordable housing in our community.
Build by Design – A Luxury Online Auction is possible through an anonymous donation of more than 100 designer items valued at more than $1,000,000. Items include Fendi vases, bedding and chandeliers.
Registered bidders will have an opportunity to participate in the virtual auction at habitatwindsor.org using HiBid a secure auction service chosen for its online bidding features that allows for remote bidding. The auction will feature high-interest leisure and luxury items, such as Kenzo designed frames, floor mirrors, and area rugs as well as items and goods donated by local businesses in the Windsor-Essex County community.
Proceeds will support Ford City Builds as well as the restoration of the Jimmy Carter build home on Bruce Ave. All proceeds will help provide affordable housing to five local families in need of housing. Habitat plans to have all five families home before the winter holidays.
“We are excited to host this one-of-a-kind event and give an opportunity for our community to support five local families in securing safe decent affordable housing,” said Fiona Coughlin, CEO/Executive Director. “Families are facing major challenges during the pandemic. Housing insecurity did not pause, families are overcrowded not allowing them to quarantine fully or successfully participate in school. We have the power to change lives and make a safe, decent home a reality for local families.”
