Apply for Healthy Workplace Awards 2021
While the annual Gord Smith Healthy Workplace & Bike Friendly Workplace Awards have been suspended for another year, the Working Toward Wellness (WTW) Committee is pleased to launch the Healthy Workplace Awards for 2021.
These awards provide recognition of businesses and workplaces that are continuing to take steps to ensure the health, safety, and overall well-being of employees and communities in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU), the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), and Family Services Windsor Essex (FSWE) will provide oversight of the awards.
Businesses can apply for three award categories: Health and Safety (Bronze, Silver or Gold), Mental Health Promotion (Bronze, Silver or Gold), and Organizational Social Responsibility.
Previous winners of the Healthy Workplace Awards are encouraged to apply for the same level or higher to demonstrate how their continued efforts to improve workplace health have evolved from 2020 to 2021.
Award details and application forms can be found online.
“We appreciate the challenges that so many of our local employers and their employees have encountered over the past year and a half, and want to celebrate their commitment to keeping our workplaces and the broader community safe, which is why our focus has narrowed to efforts around the prevention of COVID infection and providing supportive resources for those who are struggling,” says Jon Beveridge, Chair of the Working Toward Wellness Committee.
“Last year we recognized 31 workplaces for their fantastic work – especially during the pandemic. We are hopeful that more will apply this year. It’s a fantastic way to recognize the efforts of staff.”
A virtual awards ceremony will be held on October 27, 2021 to celebrate this year’s recipients.
The deadline to apply is 4:30pm on Friday, September 24th.
