Lakeshore Rain Update
The Town of Lakeshore reports that all systems are clear and functioning to their capacity. Crews have been working around the clock checking to ensure pumps are functioning and levels are dropping.
The Town recommends residents continue to check their sump pumps to ensure they are working and where basement flooding has occurred, notify your insurance company.
The Town is in consultation with the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding the flood damage in Lakeshore. Ministry officials are assessing the impact of the damage from flooding to determine if the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program should be activated. A declaration of ‘State of Emergency’ is no longer required to activate the program.
The Disaster Recovery Assistance Program provides assistance to homeowners, tenants, small owner-operated businesses, farmers and non-profit organizations recover from specified damage after a natural disaster where insurance coverage is lacking. The program is managed by the Province of Ontario. Details and program guidelines can be found online.
