LaSalle Preparing for Internet and Telephone Voting
The Town of LaSalle is busy preparing for the upcoming Municipal Election, which is taking place on Monday, October 22, 2018. Electors will be voting for the positions of mayor and five councillors. There will not be an election for deputy mayor as this position was acclaimed.
In addition, electors will vote for school board trustees for the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French Public). The trustees for the Greater Essex County District School Board and Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (French Catholic) were acclaimed.
New this year, electors in LaSalle will be voting by internet and telephone. This means that those voting in LaSalle will make their choices using any computer, wireless device (smart phone or tablet) or touch-tone telephone. Electors will be able to vote 24 hours a day from anywhere between Friday, October 12 (starting at 8:30 am) and Monday, October 22 (ending at 8:00 pm).
Whether residents have questions about the voting method or need access to the technology to vote, the Town will provide assistance. Computers and telephones will be set-up at the LaSalle Civic Centre for people to vote between October 12 and 22. In addition, the Clerk’s Department has scheduled extended hours at the LaSalle Civic Centre to provide assistance to voters:
Friday, October 12, 2018 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 13, 2018 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Weekdays: October 15-19, 2018 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, October 20, 2018 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Monday, October 22, 2018 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Eligible electors will receive a Voter Information Letter in the mail around September 21, 2018. This will include the PIN number that will be used to log into the voting system. Please keep this letter in a safe place, to be used when casting your votes.
