Lights Sound Action. Lighting Up Your Events – To The Tune Of Hard Work!
It’s been a crazy few months since getting engaged – on top of my daily duties between radio and TV – we’ve been meeting with a number of businesses in the wedding industry and meeting some great people
as we head towards our date of June 2016.
We’ve definitely been learning a lot about the realm of event planning and execution along the way.
I had a chance to sit down and learn and laugh with someone who has been serving Windsor and Essex County for years – Mike Chase from Lights Sound Action.
His company offers venue entertainment services with a popular selection of music from the ‘60s up to current day Top 40, to dynamic lighting and video displays for any kind of event, all using state of the art
technology.
For me, what made Chase stand out from the rest was the fact we both come from a broadcasting background – just from different eras.
“I spun my first record at what was known at the time as a ‘Sock Hop,’ which was the term at the time for a high school dance back in the 1960s,” he remembers. “As an assistant to another individual who also did work for CJSP Radio, I also had the opportunity to play around in the studio on the weekends.”
After a stint in the golden years of radio, Chase’s destiny in events started while at a home party.
“I had the opportunity to play some music and set up some unique lighting, for which I received a lot of positive feedback,” states Chase. “On several occasions, numerous individuals suggested that I should do this for a living. As I enjoyed the entertainment side of the music and lights, the little encouragement that I did have at the time resulted in a buying spree of more lighting, better sound systems – and it started to take off from there.”
Having a passion for entertainment and a good party – Chase feels his background is paramount when it comes to choosing tunes for your next gig: “A good DJ will listen and read the crowd. While Top 40 music may work with a younger generation, it may not necessarily work with the baby boomers.
Having said that, you would be surprised how many younger couples getting married today enjoy classic rock – as that is what their parents played in their home while growing up – so they became accustomed to it.”
Shedding the light on another aspect of a great event – lighting – can make or break a venue according to Chase’s experience for an event, big or small.
