Love is Love
Ever since gay marriage became legalized around the world, I have been thinking about how someone, anyone, can dictate who someone loves. I believe you should never have to force love that isn’t there or hide your sexuality just because someone doesn’t approve.
Your life is your choice and how you go about it is your way of being who you are. . .
Love is love,
As if anyone has the choice who we love,
As if the threats changed the minds that stayed awake at night thinking how they could be victimized for being themselves.
The fear of being one’s true self,
There is no shame,
Nothing but a simple mirror that corrupts the self image once thought to resemble a princess yet the castle was locked for longer than expected.
No prince charming to save the thoughts trapped within the mind of a little girl that wished upon the stars for the hero that never came. The wallpaper seemed to peal off the wall slowly, as if someone was throwing buckets of water at the unfinished wall who’s glue didn’t quit stick before they decided to remove the heat.
A secret that shouldn’t be kept within a bottle, sent off with a kiss but a scream to the world for acceptance of love.
Love is love no matter what form it comes in, he can be with he and she can devote herself to she.
Conquering the walls that tore us down with a single breath but grasping at the fragments to keep ourselves from falling.
Leave the scars behind and press the tape on the mouths of everyone who said your love isn’t real or meant to be.
It wasn’t meant to be easy, but it was meant to feel like nothing you’ve ever experienced.
Love is worth fighting for, and so are you.
