Mercato Fresh Expands To Amherstburg

Congrats to the owners, staff and all of the individuals who worked diligently behind the scenes to pull off the grand opening of Mercato Fresh in Amherstburg!

Despite the thunderstorms that materialized, hundreds of customers lined up starting as early as 6 a.m. to check out Amherstburg’s latest grocery store which officially opened May 8, 2025 at 8 a.m.

Located at 365 Sandwich Street South, the store is open seven days a week starting at 8 a.m. and was designed and built by Rosati. With two Windsor locations, (one on Banwell Road near Tecumseh and the other on Cabana Road East in South Windsor) along with the Chatham location, the Amherstburg location is the fourth Mercato Fresh as their ambitious plans work towards the goal of another 16 stores.

Biz X was there on site with the President/Owner of Mercato Fresh as the crowds “stormed” the 8, 160 square foot facility for special deals.

Mercato Fresh features a signature blend of quality, freshness, and value to the local community. Like all designs of other Mercato stores there is a prepared food section, a bakery, sushi, meats, every day essentials and more.

The Mercato team is “thrilled to become part of the Amherstburg community and is on a mission to make high-quality groceries affordable and accessible for everyone — while creating a truly local shopping experience.”
