Midsummer Madness In August 2025 From Korda & Fogolar Furlan
Korda Artistic Productions and the Fogolar Furlan Club present their first outdoor collaborative production, the hilarious and romantic classic Shakespearean comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This modern, playful take on a classic is presented in the open air on the Fogolar grounds.
The Duke’s wedding approaches! Love (and dirty laundry) is in the air! When Hermia is told she has to marry Demetrius or face grave consequences, she and Lysander, the guy she actually wants to marry, run away together into the forest. Helena, Hermia’s friend, tells Demetrius, whom she loves, of this elopement and the four lovers end up wandering the woods, where Oberon, the fairy king, and Titania, the fairy queen, are having an argument, as they always do.
To teach Oberon a lesson, Titania sends Puck, her fairy trickster, to find a flower with love-potion-like effects with the aim of making Oberon fall in love with some grotesque thing. Titania and Puck end up entangled in the lovers’ mess as they try to use the flower to make each pair love their corresponding suitor, with mixed results. Meanwhile, a group of well-intentioned workers from the city meet in the woods to rehearse a play. Puck stumbles across them and discovers the “ass” whom Oberon is to love.
This messy rom-com full of high emotions and magic is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved and accessible plays, full of laughs, revels, and now, pillow fights.
