Network Your Way To Success In 2025

Happy new year to all our readers, advertisers, supporters and suppliers! I hope you enjoyed a bit of time off and were able to spend the holidays with your family and friends.

Are you ready for 2025? We sure are!

Though it seems there are many challenges being a small business owner, there are lots of perks too. For the Biz X team, getting out to events to meet other professionals from area businesses and organizations is definitely an advantage.

Whereas timing is everything for us as we live on deadlines, we love to attend networking events and chat with past business contacts and meet new people as well.

In particular, the biggest networking party we attend is the annual American Thanksgiving Day Football Classic hosted by Advance Business Systems (ABS) at the Windsor Yacht Club on Riverside Drive East.

Their 33rd Customer Appreciation invitation only get-together, took place on November 28, 2024. Over 400 were in attendance and $23,000 was raised for the Fight Like Mason Foundation!

Hosted by ABS President Mike Burnett and CEO Jack Jorgensen, the event included tasty bites from Salt Sushi, beverage tastings by VIN Winery and Walkerville Brewery, a cigar/scotch tent, raffle prizes, squares games, auction items, a buffet and of course, watching the Detroit Lions win against the Chicago Bears!

“At Advance Business Systems we pride ourselves on being a major part of the Windsor Essex community and this event is just one other example of this,” states Burnett. “We are proud to say the event is not
only looked forward to by the Advance team, but the community as a whole.”

Throughout the years they have raised over $250,000 for charitable organizations in Windsor Essex. Located at 3290 Jefferson Blvd., in Windsor, the company sells printers and copiers, plus has a wide range
of I.T. services.

As you have learnt, this event has it all — the opportunity to obtain new business leads, chat with current clients, support a charitable cause and have a fun day away from the office.

Make sure your New Year Resolutions include making time to get out to at least one new professional networking event, trade show and/or charity fundraiser a month in 2025. Expand your horizons and grow your business!

Deborah Jones – Publisher of Biz X Magazine Deborah Jones graduated from the University of Windsor with an Honours Degree in Communication Studies and was employed at two other local magazines shortly after for a few years learning all she could about writing, advertising, public relations and more. She made the jump in 1998 to go out on her own to publish Biz X magazine and has worked in the publishing industry since 1990. In 2007, she earned the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from the Windsor & District Chamber of Commerce. To date, she is the ONLY woman so far to receive this award. In 2013, she received one of the first “Windsor Women of the Year” awards from the Ladies Exclusive Alliance. Her most recent achievement is the 2023 Media Award from the Windsor Essex Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Deborah is proud to live in Windsor and truly cares about each and every business and strives to make Windsor Essex the best place to live, work and play.
