BELLE RIVER’S RUTH ANNE RHEA NAMED SEASONS RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES’ REMARKABLE RESIDENT 2019
Seasons Belle River Resident Wins Annual Award
Seasons Retirement Communities has proudly announced that Ruth Anne Rhea, from Seasons Belle River, Lakeshore, is its 2019 Remarkable Resident.
Each year, in honor of Seniors’ Month in Ontario and Seniors’ Week in Alberta, Seasons hosts the Remarkable Resident contest as an opportunity to highlight the amazing life stories of its residents, and celebrate them. Three finalists from three different Seasons Retirement Communities were selected: Ruth Anne from Belle River, Walter from Brantford, Ontario and Harold from High River, Alberta.
Videos of their life stories were posted on the corporate Seasons Facebook page so that our followers could vote on who they believed should win the title.
The votes were tallied in the form of total interactions, such as likes, shares, and comments. The winner is awarded one-month free rent at the Seasons community where they reside.
After close contention, Ruth Anne was named the winner after reaching over 8K impressions on her video. “People clearly connected with Ruth Anne’s story. The engagement was simply incredible. Nonetheless, we agreed that all of our finalists are deserving of the grand prize. All three will be getting one-month free rent,” says LeighAnne Voll, chief operating officer, Seasons Retirement Communities.
Seasons Belle River resident Ruth Anne, raised with an unstoppable attitude, was determined and resilient in life. After earning a teaching degree in her youth, she went back to school to complete a bachelor’s degree at the age of 47. Outside of the classroom, Ruth Anne spent the majority of her time volunteering with Von Geranium House, an organization dedicated to the provision of compassionate care and support to individuals facing a life-threatening illness. This was the same facility that cared for her when battling her own fight against cancer. She was awarded a special honor for outstanding service after fifteen years called the Lou Holly Award. Throughout this time, Ruth Anne offered a therapeutic medical journaling course which was highly-valued by both the facility and its patients.
On Monday, Seasons announced the results. On her win of the title, Ruth Anne says, “Winning the 2019 Remarkable Resident Contest for the Seasons Belle River Retirement Community was a very exciting, yet humbling experience for me. I feel full of joy and thankfulness on this awesome day. However, this honor would not have happened for me without my family, friends, and the administration here at Seasons. A huge thank you to everyone!” Visit Facebook.com/SeasonsRetirement to view the 2019 finalist videos.
