Transition to Betterness Holiday Gift Drop to the Pediatric Chronic Illness Unit

On Tuesday December 10th, 2019, T2B made a very special trip to Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus to visit some of the pediatric chronic illness patients. The Child-Life Specialist at Windsor Regional provided T2B with a wish list and this amazing community helped make their wishes come to fruition.

Landon Lauer, who just turned 3 years old said to his mom, “ I want to make kids happy when they are sad and sick”. So for his birthday, he collected toys from family, friends and had a bin at Healthy Mama in Tecumseh, who were so excited to help Landon collect toys and games for the children. Landon and sister Aspen delivered all of the gifts to the T2B office.

Unifor Local 240 heard about Landon’s birthday donation of toys and wanted to participate. A member of Local 240 and his family donated several bins of toys, books, L.O.L toys and so much more.

Every year Head of the Class Education Centre (HOTC) selects a local organization as a charitable recipient for their annual ‘Giving Tree’ campaign. This year they hung all of the wishes from the paediatric patients and their students were able to pick a wish and bring back that special gift.

A HUGE thank you to Landon, Unifor Local 240 and HOTC for their generosity, dedication to our community and their truly kind hearts.

This is one of T2B’s many initiatives that strives to provide comfort for those dealing with a life-altering illness.

We are truly overwhelmed with the amazing toys, boardgames, books, gift cards and so much more that we received. Any remaining items will be used for our Back the Pack Program and drop-off that we will be having in February 2020. If anyone is interested in helping provide items for this drop-off please contact the T2B office at 519-944-5143.
