TD INVESTS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN’S AID YOUTH

The TD Bank Group plans a significant announcement of an investment of $75,000 to the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation’s “You Can Write A Child’s Story” campaign.  This announcement takes place Sunday, May 1st at the Foundation’s signature event, Gourmet Gardens being held at the Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery.

The gift to the “Our Youth – Charting the Course for the Future” is focused on providing opportunities to youth 18 and over who the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society provides services to who face obstacles and challenges that perhaps hinder them from pursuing traditional post-secondary options.  The program has two components;

  • Empowering Youth Program Fund – This fund enables the Children’s Aid Society to partner with other community agencies and organizations for the purpose of purchasing services that have been proven successful in terms of providing apprenticeship skills, on job training and basic life and career building skills for youth.
  • TD Completion Bursary – This annual Bursary would reward youth who complete a post-secondary diploma/degree or apprenticeship program with the reimbursement of tuition costs, hence eliminating significant debt as this young people enter the work world.

“We are grateful to the TD Financial Group for providing hope, encouragement and financial support to many of our youth enabling them to aspire to their dreams.”, indicates Bill Bevan, Chief Executive Officer of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society.

“TD values the great work that the Children’s Aid Society does within our Community”, says Robert Rumfeldt, District Vice President of Commercial Banking for TD Bank Group.  “This support is an investment in children and youth, who are the future of the community.”

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society and the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation acknowledge the great support of TD Bank over the years including sponsorship of programs and events.  The TD Canada Trust Family Well-Being Rooms in the Bill & Dot Muzzatti Child and Family Centre were named as a result of a significant gift to the “Our Success Stories Begin With You” campaign in 2013.

The announcement takes place at 2 p.m. on May 1 during  The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation “5th Anniversary Gourmet Gardens, A Celebration of Food, Wine & Spring.” This is Essex County’s premiere spring culinary event at Sprucewood Shores  Estate Winery, 7258 County Road 50, Amherstburg beginning at 1 p.m.
