TD INVESTS IN EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN’S AID YOUTH
The TD Bank Group plans a significant announcement of an investment of $75,000 to the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation’s “You Can Write A Child’s Story” campaign. This announcement takes place Sunday, May 1st at the Foundation’s signature event, Gourmet Gardens being held at the Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery.
The gift to the “Our Youth – Charting the Course for the Future” is focused on providing opportunities to youth 18 and over who the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society provides services to who face obstacles and challenges that perhaps hinder them from pursuing traditional post-secondary options. The program has two components;
- Empowering Youth Program Fund – This fund enables the Children’s Aid Society to partner with other community agencies and organizations for the purpose of purchasing services that have been proven successful in terms of providing apprenticeship skills, on job training and basic life and career building skills for youth.
- TD Completion Bursary – This annual Bursary would reward youth who complete a post-secondary diploma/degree or apprenticeship program with the reimbursement of tuition costs, hence eliminating significant debt as this young people enter the work world.

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society and the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation acknowledge the great support of TD Bank over the years including sponsorship of programs and events. The TD Canada Trust Family Well-Being Rooms in the Bill & Dot Muzzatti Child and Family Centre were named as a result of a significant gift to the “Our Success Stories Begin With You” campaign in 2013.
The announcement takes place at 2 p.m. on May 1 during The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation “5th Anniversary Gourmet Gardens, A Celebration of Food, Wine & Spring.” This is Essex County’s premiere spring culinary event at Sprucewood Shores Estate Winery, 7258 County Road 50, Amherstburg beginning at 1 p.m.
The event features a Chef’s Reception and a four course lunch served by Chef Don Kumarasinghe paired with Sprucewood wines. As well a “Chef’s Competition” between Artisan Grill, Caesars Windsor and Iron Kettle Bed & Breakfast. Entertainment includes renowned Detroit vocalists, Charles & Gwen Scales and the sounds of the Tristan Taylor Trio.
