TECUMSEH 2017 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Last Tuesday night, Council received the 2017 Accomplishments report, outlining a number of successes over the past year.
Highlights of the report include:
- Celebration of Canada’s 150 with events in Lakewood Park and the completion of a Mosaic Art Project
- Completion of a Confined Space Training Facility at Fire Hall #2
- Ward Boundary Review leading to a Five Ward system for the 2018 Municipal Election
- Public Information Centre on Flood Prevention attended by over 350 residents
- New Gateway Signage installed on Highway 401
- Awarded the Government Finance Officer Association’s Award for the 8th Consecutive Time as well as the Robert Pulleyblank Award for Municipal Environmental Achievement from the Essex Region Conservation Authority
- Launched several new children’s events including Earth Day, “Kids in the Kitchen” and “Breakfast with Santa”
- Awarded several more grants under the Community Improvement Plan which totaled more than $250,000 since January 2016
- Completed and tabled 11 Discussion Papers as part of the New Official Plan process
- Purchased a new kneeling bus for improved accessibility on Tecumseh Transit
- Launched the third Citizen Satisfaction Survey presented to Council January 30 and outlining a 98% satisfaction rate with the Town
“My Council colleagues and I are proud of the work done by our Administration,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “From the new initiatives and events launched in 2017 to the day-to-day work that is completed in our facilities, parks and infrastructure. We look forward to more success in 2018.”
