There is Always a Silver Lining! (Part 2)

There is Always a Silver Lining! (Part 2 of Staying Optimistic Through this Pandemic)

Having written an article already on staying optimistic through this pandemic, I thought I could write another article about the silver lining showing through these very tough times.

As bad as things may seem right now, there is always an optimistic side, even if it’s small.

When fear takes over, you lose focus on the things that are making you a stronger, wiser and a better person. When you look at the positive side of any challenging situation, it can be both helpful for your mind and your body.

So let’s look at some positive things that whatever is happening right now can teach us.

We learn to adapt
As human beings, we can adapt to change, even if things are not under our control. We are strong individuals. Struggles are struggles. But the fighters keep on fighting. We can face adversity and tragedy, but we still have the strength to continue moving forward in our life. This makes us powerful human beings. Always remember, even if things feel bad right now, know you are doing your best. You are dealing with it day by day. This is very admirable of you to do that, and you should be proud of yourself.

As fearful as it may seem, you will manage this and you will get through it. Do not let it stop you from being productive in your life. Do not let it steal your joy and happiness. Adapt to it and never forget we got through SARS and other challenges that life brought to us.

We are resilient and we always get back in the game.

We learn to look out for each other and have our best interests at heart.

We are self isolating and we are keeping a social distance, so we can keep ourselves and the whole world safe.

We are a big family in this world and it brings us all closer together knowing that none of us have to face these challenges alone. By staying at home as much as we can, unless we need essentials, we show that we care about each other by protecting ourselves from getting infected. God never wants violence, discrimination, hate and racism.

He wants people to love each other and to know that any challenges they might be facing, they are not alone. With love there is no fear, only peace.

We learn to spend more time with the people we love.

Being in quarantine allows us to spend more time with our loved ones and pets. When we work so much, sometimes we feel guilty about not giving enough time to the people who matter to us the most. This gives all of us an opportunity to spend family time and do the things we love to do with them.

If you are alone, keep in touch with your family and call them often. Always remember that family is everything. We share our days, secrets, love and successes with them first.

If you have a pet, spending quality time with these beautiful creatures is a way of showing them how loved and important they are to you. Doing my work from home and being with my cat has been super fun. He is also my Netflix and pizza buddy. I love you TJ.

We learn to spend more time by ourselves.

In addition to family, when you self quarantine, you are able to focus on things you were not able to do. This could be a hobby, a project, or painting, or whatever interests you that you were unable to get to when you were super busy.

Make sure you also take care of yourself and focus on you. Pamper and be kind to yourself. Look back at what you have accomplished in your life and how far you have come. Practice daily self affirmations and never forget who your beautiful mother gave birth to … A CHAMPION!

Exercise and eat healthily

Gyms are closed because of this pandemic. I am fortunate to have a gym in my garage and I can lift weights. However, you can still stay in great shape without the use of weights. You can do push-ups, knee pushups, pull-ups, bodyweight squats, crunches, planks, low leg raises and running up and down the stairs, all of this in the comfort of your own home.

Eating healthily and taking care of your body while you are going through this self quarantine will make you feel happier about yourself.
You can also dance to music, do Yoga, Tai chi, and meditation as well.

This is great for overall wellness.

We learn to be Mr. and Mrs. Clean

It is just as important to keep your hands clean as it is too keep your mind and heart healthy. This pandemic stresses this importance of ensuring that we are not spreading germs to ourselves or others. In fact, we are making sure our hands are even more thoroughly cleaned. You do not even need a hand sanitizer or an antibacterial soap.

Regular soap and warm water is all you need to use. Just scrub for 20 to 30 seconds singing the Happy Birthday song. Rinse and VOILA! you are a lean, clean machine.
The good thing is, when this pandemic is over, we will pay more attention to the importance of keeping our hands clean. Make sure you moisturize to prevent dryness.

We learn to stop worrying about things we have no control over

You must remember that things are going to happen in life that you have nothing to do with. So why are you worrying? Worrying is useless and it is not going to stop anything. But, you can remain hopeful and optimistic, not for just yourself, but for others as well. It’s important to remember that what’s happening is beyond our control. All we can do is our part in our surroundings. Just be there for the people who are struggling right now.

Sometimes when life happens to you, there are two important questions you must ask yourself.

1) Are you going to worry day and night, pacing back and forth letting this get to you?
2) Are you going to accept what is happening in the world and do your part by staying hopeful, having faith and taking precautions, so you can be safe and so can others?

Let us learn to accept what life and challenges we face and make the best out of every situation. Look at the glass half full, not half empty.

I promise you, you are going to make it through this. Do not panic at all. I want you to look at the silver linings of this and what it teaches us. Whatever starts will eventually come to an end. So, please continue to stay strong because this pandemic MUST end. But, champions like you will go on, lasting for a lifetime of much happiness, joy and perseverance.

God bless you and take care. Never give up. Keep moving forward. Believe in yourself. Be a Legend.
