This Is My Life And This is What I Want To Do

This Is My Life And This is What I Want To Do

Happiness can mean a lot of things to a lot of people but ultimately it makes you feel good. When it comes to our future and career path, sometimes we forget our own happiness and do what others want us to do, so they can accept and approve of us. However that is not truly what you want to do and not what makes you feel happy. So let me ask you…… are you trying to impress someone? What are you trying to prove to people? Are you fulfilling someone else’s life or yours?

You see when I achieve something I don’t try to say, “Hey everybody look what I did. Are you proud of me?” I simply pat myself on the back. I am so proud of myself for the person I knew I could be, and proud of doing what I (Danny Gautama) want to do and what brings me so much joy. I am not worried about trying to impress others. I only let people know of my successes if I want to share the moment with them and not because I want their approval.

Trying to achieve and accomplish something for others approval shrinks your own talent and you own abilities. You want to keep up with their expectations. You want them to think you are good enough, and you fit in. You are not focusing on how amazing you are but rather focusing on wanting to be amazing in other people’s eyes. Does that really make you happy? I’ll tell you this…..take them off the pedestal right now and put yourself in the limelight and be who you want to be and do what you want to do. You are special you are talented YOU ARE ENOUGH. So if you want to prove something to someone special then look no further than the special person you see in the mirror. Do what you want. Prove to yourself that you will do it.

My friend, when you prove something to yourself and follow your own path you are telling yourself that you have what it takes and your uniqueness begins to shine.

Unless you want to, do not do what your parents, friends, spouse or anyone want you to do and I say that sincerely. You can listen to them and take their advice but it is you who needs to do what you want to do. I am sure they mean well and they really do love you, but whatever YOU WANT to do is what you MUST DO. If you want to be a rock star GO FOR IT. If you want to be a scientist, be my guest, but only if this is what YOU have decided and what YOU feel that this is what you are called to do. It is okay to be a little selfish.

I use to listen to people who would tell me to get into business, marketing and accounting. So I did, but I hated it with all my heart. That was not for me. I hated that stuff and I lost my college years doing something that meant for me. I mean sure I did well and learned stuff, but I did not even consider applying for these positions, because it didn’t initiate passion for me.

Deep inside I always wanted to help people physically and mentally. This was my calling, and why do you think I feel happier? It is because I am doing what makes me happy, and I relish every part of it. When you do what you want, you are following a path to finding success as you continue to evolve and bring in desired results.

This is your life, nobody else’s. So stop trying to live a life of what others want you to live. Follow your own path. Be your own individual. You are not living in anyone’s shadow. You have your own special gifts and your own special talents. Don’t be afraid to speak up and say with conviction that,

  • When you do what makes you happy you start to reap all the benefits of it. Such as,
  • You inspire others to be happy with your infectious disposition
  • You develop confidence and are content with yourself and what you are doing
  • You are perfectly where you are meant to be,
  • You are not focused on what others are doing,
  • Doing what you love is like play time
  • You are more likely to forgive others

Do you ever see kids who say to their parents, this is what I want to do and they end up doing it? Look at great athletes like Wayne Gretzky and Michael Jordan. They started practicing since they were children. They already knew their calling and what they wanted to do. That’s why they were great.

If what you are doing does not make you happy, then run faster than Forrest Gump.

Now this is important……….

Happiness in doing what you want to do is embracing the hard work struggles that come along the way. If you want to be a Doctor so badly then you must be willing and dedicate to putting in years, time and effort but still maintain that passion even if it means facing rejections. Then that is truly doing what makes you happy. It should not feel like a burden or a chore but a source of enjoyment. You have to be motivated and dedicated, Happiness comes when you are not focused on trying to be happy but doing what you want to do.

Doing something you want to do because it will make you money is not what true happiness is all about .Money comes with the work but you must be doing something because you love this something with all your heart and soul.

Doing one thing alone is not about happiness .it is doing anything that makes you happy. For example I love to write articles but I also love to lift weights .I love spending time with loved ones and my cat. I love going to fine dining restaurants etc. There has to be a balance just like life has balance with having good and bad days. You can make a bad day good if you choose to.

So there you have it. At the end of the day it is your life, your happiness and your choice. You are going to hear a lot of things from people but the only person who is the CEO ,President of your life and who is able to make decisions is the one and only . . . YOU.

God bless you and take care. Never give up, Keep moving forward, Believe in yourself, Be a legend.
