Unredeemed 2016 Cat Spay Neuter Vouchers to be Offered on November 16

Following City Council’s budgetary approval for Windsor’s fifth spay/neuter voucher program, 220 unredeemed vouchers from Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the 2016 program will be reissued on November 16, 2016. Phase 1 released 400 vouchers on March 9, 2016 and Phase 2 released 300 vouchers on May 4, 2016. This final additional phase for the 2016 program will be released to the public on November 16, 2016 at 11:00 am. Expiry date of vouchers is December 31, 2016.

A maximum of 2 vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned and a family income threshold is met, and a maximum of 4 feral vouchers per household will be issued with no family income threshold requirements. Previous recipients of vouchers under Phases 1 and 2 of the 2016 Program are not eligible to receive vouchers under the final phase.

The $50,000 program was approved by City Council in the 2016 Operating Budget. In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats and number of cats euthanized in the city, a total of 700 vouchers were made available to sterilize cats.

Vouchers are redeemable at participating veterinary clinics. Voucher recipients must call in advance to book appointments for spay neuter services. All services must be completed before the expiry date of December 31, 2016.

Vouchers will again be issued through the City’s 311 call-in service. Residents who meet the eligibility criteria will receive their vouchers in the mail.
