Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex has a new fundraising event called WE Move 4 Mentoring.
WE Move 4 Mentoring launched Saturday, May 15 and will run until July 31, 2021. It is presented by McDonald’s Windsor Essex.
We are all spending a lot of time at home right now – but we need to keep moving, keep active and keep motivated! It is a simple and fun way to make a difference in our community! Challenge yourself (and each other) to be active while raising pledges to support 500 children and youth in their seven mentoring programs here in Windsor Essex.
Participating is simple:
- Raise a minimum of $30 in pledges, and win incentive prizes for a minimum of $100 raised!
- Participants will raise pledges and then exercise, workout, walk, run, do yoga or an activity of their choosing for 3 hours.
- Virtually post their fitness activities for their donors to see their activities on their fundraising page.
“For the second year in a row, we have been unable to host our 2 signature events, Bowl for Kids’ Sake and Battle of the Hors D’oeuvres, due to COVID 19 restrictions. This has negatively impacted our fundraising efforts and made it difficult to continue to deliver some of our programs.”

Parent explains the new fundraiser as: “WE Move 4 Mentoring offers people the opportunity to have a great time with family, friends and/or workplaces while maintaining strict physical distancing restrictions. Moving outdoors and/or with those in your own household and competing virtually with others doing the same is a really fun and safe way to raise funds and help make a difference in the lives of children and youth in our community.”
Jason Trussell, former Big Brother and one of three McDonald’s Owner/Operators in Windsor Essex states: “This is such an amazing organization we have here in Windsor Essex, with a long legacy of supporting thousands of children and youth over five decades. During this past year we know that children are dealing with more stress than ever. Having a supportive mentor to connect with each and every week has helped hundreds of kids get through this past year. With more than 80 kids still waiting to be matched in our community, we are proud to support this event, in hopes of closing the gap and create more of those helpful connections between children and mentors.”
All funds raised from this event stays 100% in Windsor and Essex County and supports the seven youth mentoring programs at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor Essex. These programs support youth, families and adult volunteers in mentoring relationships where youth gain life experience and achieve personal growth.
