Windsor Musical Starts Kickstarter Campaign for Halloween Production

In March 2017, I introduced you to Cannibal! The Musical and its cast which under ‘cover’ of broad daylight, had been holed up in Windsor’s venerable Capital Theatre for their final fine-tuning rehearsals before kicking off their US tour. With little fanfare, the company opened the doors of the Capital Theatre for three (free) dress rehearsal presentations of the musical to large crowds who were treated to two and a half hours of knee-slapping, hands clapping, foot tapping entertainment.

One of the leads from Cannibal! The Musical, Taylor Lavigne, is a Windsor native and alumnus of St. Clair College. And now he’s returning to his hometown with an exciting new project this Fall. He and good friend, Mike Karloff, have recently started a new theatre business and are debuting their new musical “Raise the Stakes”, a re-telling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula as a musical comedy in a new and outrageously funny way. They have been developing the show for the past two years, and after a successful stage reading in Toronto, they are preparing to launch the full production this October in Windsor.

The world premiere of their exciting work will take place at the Walkerville Theatre in Windsor and will play for seven shows during the last two weekends of October. What an incredible show to lead us all into Halloween!

For this production they are casting both in Toronto and Windsor and have also created a production team composed of Windsor professionals. From music direction, choreography, lighting, crew, etc. they are utilizing the best Windsor has to offer.

Since this is a grass roots production, they are seeking the assistance of the public to help them with the associated costs. They are self-producing, meaning that they are using their own resources to launch this show. It is a risk to be sure, but, as Lavigne says, “we believe strongly in the material and feel like we have a hit on our hands. We are launching a Kickstarter campaign this coming Monday, May 28th.

Those interested in helping them as patrons for this endeavour can find more information on Kickstarter.
