FREEZE! DISCOVER POLICING AT WINDSOR POLICE WEEK
Freeze! Put your hands up for a good time! Tecumseh Mall is honoured and proud to partner with The Windsor Police Service and host this year’s Windsor Police Week from Thursday, May 10th to Saturday, May 12th, during regular mall hours.

This event offers the community of Windsor to learn and discover policing through interacting with officers from diverse units and areas of expertise.
This will also include the Chief for the Day, Andrew Wigeluk, 11 years old, from St. Gabriel School. He was chosen from a group of students who participate in The Windsor Police Service Values Influences and Peers (V.I.P) Program. This program is currently active in 60 local schools representing each of the local school boards and some private schools. Annually V.I.P students are asked to write a letter as to why they want to be ‘Chief for a Day’, and one student is chosen for this special position.
On Thursday, May 10th, 2018, Officers from the Community Service Branch will meet up with Andrew at approximately 11:30am, in-mall in front of the 150th Anniversary Windsor Police Car. There he will meet Windsor Police Chief Albert Frederick and be officially sworn in as ‘Chief for the Day’. He will be available for comments while in the Chief’s office, and will perform some of Chief Albert Frederick’s assigned duties afterward.
Shortly thereafter, Andrew will participate in the official opening of Police Week with the Dignitaries Walk Through accompanied by Chief Albert Frederick, and representatives from the organizations attending this year’s event. This will take place in the interior of the mall, and begin just outside the Shoppers Drug Mart main mall entrance. Once completed, the dignitaries, including Andrew, ‘Chief for the Day’, will head to Smoke N Spice Restaurant for a dignitary lunch.
Aside from the numerous displays throughout the mall, there will be meet and greets with Elmer the Safety Elephant, and new this year, a chance for patrons to take a photo with a cut out of a limited edition Windsor Police 150th Anniversary replica cruiser, receive free police gift giveaways, while quantities last. Plus, donate $2 and enjoy a fun indoor 9-hole mini golf course. All proceeds will be in support of Camp Brombal.
