Biz X Was There – Windsor Reverse Drive Thru Santa Claus Parade
The 52nd Annual Windsor Reverse Drive Thru Santa Claus Parade presented by the City of Windsor took place on Saturday December 5, 2020 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Parade was held at St. Clair College South Windsor Campus and was a sold out event with spectators getting tickets (at no charge) to reserve their spot. The parade was lovingly dedicated to Windsor Parade Corporation family member Clayton Massender.
The Reverse Parade Concept involved the “Entries” staying in place while traffic passes by. Although far from a normal parade concept this method allows for Social Distancing and was reviewed by the Windsor Essex County Health Unit.
Those participating included St. Clair College, Canada Post, Windsor Spitfires, Sparky and Windsor Fire & Rescue, MP Windsor-West Brian Masse and MPP Windsor -West Lisa Gretzky, Evermore Princess Parties in costumes, entertainers, and the grand finale of Santa’s Workshop with Santa and Mrs. Claus talking to the little ones from their sleigh! There were also giant inflatables, horses from Sarah Parks Horsemanship/Firehorse Leadership Organization and local non profit organizations like a Chatham Bagpipe Band in attendance.
Despite the fact there was a bit of wait to get in and sadly, some cars had to be turned away, the people in the parade more than made up for any inconveniences as all were super friendly and happy to be outside spreading holiday cheer.
In the event you were not able to see the Parade it will be shown on YourTV channel 11/HD 700 on the following dates . . .
- Dec 12 – 3PM & 7:30PM
- Dec 13 – 10am, 3:30PM & 10:30PM

Kudos to Maggie Durocher of The Windsor Parade Corporation, her team, Windsor Police and St. Clair College for organizing this fun family evening. In this year of challenging times and many event cancellations, your hard work was appreciated by our city and of course, all of us at Biz X magazine!
