Kingsville Educator Named as a Finalist for the Women Changing the World Awards

Lynn McLaughlin, of Kingsville, was recently named as a finalist for the 2025 Women Changing the World Awards in the Woman in Education – Adult Education & Training category. Not only is she representing Windsor-Essex, but she is the sole Canadian nominated in this category. These awards, led by Dr. Tererai Trent, celebrate women making a lasting impact in education, health, innovation and beyond.

With over 35-years of experience in education as a teacher, principal and superintendent, Lynn has gained valuable insights into the growing mental health challenges students face. Her work is rooted in a deep belief that we can nurture a generation equipped with the skills they need to thrive. As a brain tumor survivor and someone who has supported others through mental health struggles, Lynn understands resilience and compassion firsthand.

Through her Taking the Helm podcast, The Power of Thought book series (co-authored with her niece, Amber Raymond), and speaking engagements, Lynn helps parents and educators shift from reactive responses to proactive strategies that prioritize children’s mental health.

Lynn believes well-being must be embedded in a child’s development—not just addressed when problems arise. By supporting parents, educators, and children alike, we create a future where resilience, confidence and empathy are the norm.

The winners will be announced on April 3, 2025, at the Women Changing the World Global Summit in London, England.

UPDATE: Biz X magazine wishes to congratulate Lynn on winning the SILVER award in education at the event. She was the only Canadian in her category, amazing!!! Way to go Lynn! Keep changing the world!
