42 FORWARD GROUP CALLS FOR QUICK GOVERNMENT ACTION FOR PLANNED MEGA HOSPITAL
The grassroots group 42 FORWARD has written to Christine Elliott, Minister of Health and Long Term Care, asking her to now expedite funding toward the planned hospital on County Road 42.
This funding had been delayed pending the outcome of the recent LPAT hearings, and now that the planning process has been upheld, it’s time for the project to move forward, says Brian Stocks, Chair of 42 FORWARD.
Stocks observed that residents of the city and county demonstrated much patience during the delay, and now fully expect the process to move forward. “During our petition campaign, I spoke with countless residents who expressed frustration that the process was being delayed. But to their credit, they remained patient and expressed faith in the process that was followed. We were also greatly encouraged by the response of the thousands of citizens who joined in our petition drives.”
As we are still several years away from seeing the new hospital being built, the benefit will accrue to our children and grandchildren. The group feels the appeal has put the process further back, and now that it’s been resolved, it is time to move forward. They also believe Windsor-Essex cannot endure any further delay. They encourage all interested citizens to join together to see their hopes for the new hospital come to fruition.
42 Forward is a grassroots group dedicated to lobbying and advocacy for the County Road 42 Single-Site Acute Care Hospital for Windsor Essex. As residents and taxpayers of Windsor Essex County, they support the chosen location for the new hospital.
