Ska:na Family Learning Centre Participates In “A Day to Listen”

Ska:na Family Learning Centre (SFLC) is a proponent of Trauma Informed Care plans to gather for our workers, our children and our families on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 to participate in “A Day to Listen” sponsored by the Gord Downie & Charlie Wenjack Fund

Ska:na Family Learning Centre is an Indigenous led, not for profit, charity organization serving families with children ages 0 to 12 years old with Indigenous culturally-based child care and Early Years children’s programming.

The Ska:na Board of Directors and personnel were again deeply saddened to hear of the tragic discovery at the Marieval Indian Residential School in Saskatchewan of the 751 unmarked graves, SFLC is pleased that Cowessess First Nation has dedicated themselves to uncover the truth about this situation. Families and Nations have suffered for many years without healing and now they will continue to come together to honour those little ones, so precious and yet, so lost.

They support the Every Child Matters philosophy and have focused their efforts and energy on building partnerships, strengthening relationships and providing programs and services to support SKA:NA, which is the Creator’s peace. SFLC works closely with municipal partners in Windsor-Essex, Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent and is pleased the voices of Indigenous people will be raised. One day is not enough, it is the beginning.

The Ska:na Family Learning Centre can be found at 2-1699 Northway Avenue in Windsor and online.
