Abraham Orthodontics Offers Free Exams For Kids

Abraham Orthodontics Offers Free Exams For Kids During National Orthodontic Health Month

Dr. Maxwell Abraham and the team at Abraham Orthodontics is offering free orthodontic exams for all children in October to celebrate National Orthodontic Health Month.

If your child is approaching the age of seven, it’s time to make an appointment for an initial exam with your orthodontist. The Canadian Association of Orthodontists has recommended that the proper age for a child’s first visit to the orthodontist is no later than seven years of age to prevent complex and surgical treatments.

“Most often, the orthodontist will identify a potential problem but recommend monitoring the child’s growth and development. He or she can spot subtle problems with jaw growth and emerging teeth while baby teeth are present and recommend starting treatment at the best possible time to minimize treatment duration cost and complexity.” – Dr. Maxwell Abraham of Abraham Orthodontics

Dr. Abraham’s practice offers free exams for all children, with no referral required. Children that are not ready for treatment, enter his Growing Smiles Programs where the children are seen yearly, at no cost (regardless of insurance) to monitor growth and dental development.

Since every patient may present unique orthodontic problems and growth considerations, the “best age” to start treatment is different for every patient. Therefore, the best time for a consultation with your orthodontist is as soon as a possible problem is noticed.

Abraham Orthodontics has used community initiatives in the past to raise awareness. Most recently, take-home Math Game Kits at Harrow Public School (HPS) was sponsored by Dr. Abraham to encourage STEM development through family game nights, while sending the important message of the initial screening orthodontic exam at seven years old.

“It’s a wonderful program the leaders at HPS came up with and we have the intention of making it comprehensive to follow the kids through their time at HPS,” states Dr. Abraham. “If it encourages and prevents one child from requiring surgical orthodontic treatment later, it’s worth it 150%!”
