AMHERSTBURG CELEBRATES ACTIVE LIVING WITH 2-DAY EXPO

The Town of Amherstburg, in collaboration with Amherstburg Community Services (ACS), has announced the 2024 Active Aging Expo at the Libro Recreation Centre, located at 3295 Meloche Rd., Amherstburg.

This dynamic event will take place over two days and offer various activities and resources to promote active and healthy lifestyles for seniors.

Friday, May 31, from 10 AM to 2 PM: Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with over 40 vendors, enjoy informative presentations and demonstrations. Local wineries, distilleries, and breweries will provide free samples, and a complimentary lunch will be available (some conditions apply).

Saturday, June 1, from 9 AM to 2 PM: The focus shifts to recreational activities with free drop-in sessions, including Pickleball, Pilates, Zumba Gold, Body Forging, and Badminton. This is a perfect chance to try new activities and meet like-minded community members.

Additionally, ACS CareLink Accessible Transportation will offer free rides within Amherstburg, ensuring everyone can attend without transportation barriers. The first 50 attendees will receive ACS tote bags as a special gift.

“This expo is a celebration of active ageing and a testament to our community’s commitment to fostering health and wellness among our senior residents,” said Heidi Baillargeon, Director of Parks, Facilities & Recreation, Town of Amherstburg. “We are thrilled to partner with Amherstburg Community Services and encourage everyone to join us for two days of learning, fun, and community spirit.”

This event is partially funded by the Government of Canada, underscoring the importance of supporting seniors in leading active, fulfilling lives.
