Habitat For Humanity Windsor-Essex & Caesars Windsor Cares Skills Lab
On March 27, 2023 Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex (HFHWE) celebrated the renewed dedication of the Caesars Windsor Cares Skills Lab. The space, funded through the generous support of Caesars Windsor Cares, provides an opportunity for skills training, mentorship, and community partnership. A short ceremony celebrated the commitment to education and training that is a focus of both Habitat for Humanity and Caesars Windsor.
Open to community members, Habitat homeowners, and volunteers, attendees participated in a Financial Literacy Session focusing on the importance of Wills, Insurance, Power of Attorney and more – the third in a series of workshops presented by Libro Credit Union in the Caesars Windsor Cares Skills Lab space.
Says Fiona Coughlin, Executive Director/CEO, Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex: “Eliminating poverty housing is always our focus, and the Caesars Skills Lab is pivotal to achieving that goal. Through skills training, we empower our homeowners. Through educating community builders, we build the future. We are so excited to be back to hosting workshops and training sessions in person. We are thrilled to be reconnecting with our community partners and experts to provide these educational opportunities.”
Susanne Tomkins shares: “Caesars Windsor Cares is proud to be a long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity and their commitment to providing strength and stability for families across Windsor-Essex County. This partnership demonstrates our ongoing commitment to making Windsor-Essex a healthy, diverse, and vibrant community.”
Education and training sessions will be hosted in the Caesars Skills Lab which will include a Spring Home Maintenance Session which will be held this April.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials as well as furniture, appliances, home accessories, and much more, to the public. Shopping at a Habitat ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as the money generated is used to fund local Habitat for Humanity homebuilding projects and operations. It’s also an environmentally friendly decision, as much of what is sold is product that is new, gently used or customer returns that might otherwise end up in a landfill.
