Carrousel@Home A Virtual Culture Celebration With Real Takeout Locations!
Continuing their mission of creating a welcoming community for all, the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County (MCC) have announced that with the support of ethnic and cultural organizations across our community, the tradition of Carrousel will continue in 2021 with the second presentation of Carrousel@Home.
The online version takes place June 18 to 20, 2021 and June 25 to 27, 2021 and is made possible through the support of the Government of Canada’s Ministry of Heritage.
Included in this two-weekend celebration is representation from local ethnic ‘villages’ with demonstrations, performances and presentations unique to their cultures – all shared virtually. Takeout food service is offered by select Carrousel Villages.
In addition, new to Carrousel this year is an exciting presenting partnership with LiUNA! 625.
“I am delighted to announce LiUNA’s partnership with the Multicultural Council for this year’s Carrousel@Home. Carrousel of the Nations has long been a mainstay of the region’s summer festival season, celebrating the diversity and cultural identities of the ethnic groups of Windsor-Essex. As one of the most diverse unions in the country, we are proud to be a part of ensuring that this 46-year tradition of celebrating culture is able to continue in 2021. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating … from a safe distance.”
Rob Petroni, Business Manager, LIUNA
Carrousel@Home also engages the community through a broad-reaching social media campaign which encourages the posting of photos that share how culture is celebrated in the homes of community residents.
