Healing Pretty IndieGoGo Campaign to Donate 1,000 Books to Women with Cancer

Local cancer beauty expert, Jacqueline Apostol-Pizutti, has launched an Indiegogo campaign during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign goal of $30,000 will provide free copies of Apostol-Pizutti’s book, Healing Pretty, to financially disadvantaged women and to cancer care organizations locally, and across North America.

Healing Pretty is a head-to-toe guide to help women deal with the side effects of cancer treatment. The book includes over 300 tips and resources, professionally researched and cited with 14 chapters covering hair loss, skin problems, makeup tips, surgery reconstruction options, comfort and fashion accessories and more. In addition, a dedicated “Soul Sisters” chapter is written by 25 cancer survivors who provide their own advice and tips for practical products that can be found in the corner drugstore or ordered online.

“They can give you all the information they have, but it’s the little things in between. Like, what do I do when my hair falls out? Do I just let it all fall out, or do I shave it? What am I going to do without boobs?” says Jill Laframboise one of the contributors to Healing Pretty. “It’s all the little things we take for granted every single day that suddenly become such a huge part of your life. The focus was I need to get better, but how do I not lose myself in the process?”

“This book is so important to us” adds Peggy Polewski, also a cancer survivor and contributor to Healing Pretty. “It addresses the big things too such as surgical healing kits, so you leave from your mastectomy with a comfortable and discreet bra, and your drainage tubes aren’t taped to your body.”

“Women come to me filled with anxiety, not knowing what to expect during treatment and are often blindsided by side effects. They also soon realize there’s a financial burden to cancer. It will be my honor to help these remarkable women, in some small way, to get them through treatment with comfort, confidence and dignity and save them a little money along the way.” – Jacqueline Apostol-Pizutti

“I am humbled to be one of the contributors to Healing Pretty, and so grateful to support Jackie’s Indiegogo campaign” concludes Jill. “I will do anything and everything I can to get Healing Pretty out there. When I was diagnosed at only 23 years old, I wish I had this book.”

Backers for the Indiegogo campaign can choose from a range of perks including price discounts on Healing Pretty, Skype consultations with Jackie Apostol-Pizzuti, memorial dedications and boxes of books delivered to the organization of their choice. Backers can also simply donate to the campaign, starting at $10. The Healing Pretty book will be published in November 2018.
