In Honour Of The Ones We Love Donates To The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County COVID Response Fund
In Honour Of The Ones We Love has been a pillar of the Windsor-Essex community since its inception in 1997. To date, In Honour has donated over $14 million to our local community. Now they add another $25,000 donation to that total, this time in support of The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County COVID Response Fund.
During this unprecedented time, The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County continues to care for patients in the community at both Hospice Residential Homes (two, 10 bed facilities, located in Windsor and Erie Shores), as well as the Hospice Palliative Medicine Program (a program that cares for patients at end-of-life in their own home).
The care offered by Hospice continues to focus on the whole patient — caring for physical, psychological, social, spiritual and practical needs — but also extends beyond, to include family and loved ones.
Although The Hospice remains operational, the need for donations has not changed due to this pandemic.
With less than 50% government funding, donations remain the lifeline for Hospice’s high quality palliative care delivery. As the community continues to navigate the physical, emotional, and financial uncertainty that has resulted from COVID-19, many not-for-profits are feeling the effects. It is thanks to donations like this that Hospice is able to continue its full clinical operations.
“When a patient is in need of a bed, we want to do anything we can to ensure that bed is available,” says Anita Imperioli, Founder and President of In Honour Of The Ones We Love. “This donation was made to support Hospice in ensuring those beds remain accessible, especially during this difficult time.”
The team at In Honour Of The Ones We Love have been longtime financial supporters and champions of The Hospice, with the relationship between the organizations dating back many years, and total donations exceeding well over $300,000.
“Anita has built a strong foundation of supporting direct patient care initiatives in our community over several decades, and this donation adds another to her legacy within this community. This incredibly kind gift will directly support our patients and families, and allow us to continue to care for our community, especially during these uncertain times.” – Colleen Reaume, Executive Director of The Hospice of Windsor & Essex County
The Hospice COVID Response Fund supports the critical needs of our frontline workers and patients. Hospice is experiencing a significant shortfall in fundraised revenue, which accounts for over 50% of the annual budget. Throughout this pandemic, the Hospice remains committed to caring for our community.
