Groundbreaking Event for New A&W in the Town of Essex
The ground breaking for the new A&W featured brief remarks by elected leaders, followed by a groundbreaking ceremony.
A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. is Canada’s fastest growing quick service burger chain. It is 100 per cent Canadian owned and is the nation’s second largest hamburger chain with more than 950 locations. The new location at 300 Maidstone Ave W. in front of Canadian Tire in Essex will employ approximately 20 people.
“A&W is strategically and actively expanding in Ontario. Part of this strategy has been to focus in recent years on “small-town” Ontario. There is a population of over 12,000 people within a 10 minute drive of the Essex location. The new A&W restaurant will draw traffic from the town of Essex itself, as well as the surrounding rural communities and traffic traveling between Leamington and Windsor along Highway 3,” – Sandra Lewis Director, Real Estate – Ontario, for A&W Food Services of Canada Inc., owners of the new franchise.
“This groundbreaking demonstrates the potential for development in the Highway 3 commercial corridor,” said Nelson Silveira, Town of Essex Economic Development Officer. “This national restaurant chain recognizes the value of the location in the heart of Essex County. We know this area is ideal for a wide variety of businesses, and we look forward to building on that momentum.”
