PASTA for PRESTYN – VISION THERAPY FUNDRAISER BEING HELD
In August a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help Prestyn’s Mom pay for the eye therapy he needs. The GoFundMe has commitments for over $2,000 to date, but is far from the $15 000.00 she needs.
“July 9th I sat in a parents only consultation meeting with Dr. M.Moussa where I learned that my son had been diagnosed with Strabismus and Amblyopia. These are conditions that affect his everyday life and makes school very hard for him. Prestyn is a grade 6 student but is at a grade 2 level do to his conditions. The Doctor explained to me that without the treatment Prestyn’s eye will eventually be “dead” and will most likely he will end up on disability after high school. All I could think was my son is going to struggle in life on a fixed income because I don’t have the funds to provide his treatment.” Mom, Jennifer Carley
Prestyn is an energetic and happily silly 10 year old boy who aspires to be a video game designer. Unfortunately, Prestyn has Strabismus and Amblyopia which means the “eye-brain connection is not working properly” and only has 5% vision in his right eye at present. The Pediatric Optometrist says without eye therapy, which is not covered or funded, Prestyn will have lifelong developmental struggles. Prestyn has already been diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia. His mom is doing everything she can to ensure he has the best future possible, but does not have the financial resources to pay for the uncovered therapy.
A pasta dinner is being organized by the Staff of Victoria Manor to be held on Friday September 28th, 2018 at the Moose Lodge to raise funds for the eye therapy. The event starts at 6 pm. Tickets are $25.00 available through Eventbrite. The Bands “British Beat” and “Case the Joint” are volunteering their talent and time to entertain that night.
Come for Prestyn and pasta, stay for a great time!
