BIZ X WAS THERE – Sleep In Heavenly Peace Windsor-Essex Marks 600th Bed For Local Children
By Della Jones-Goulet
“No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Your Town” is Sleep In Heavenly Peace’s slogan, and on June 23, 2024 a group of approximately 50 local volunteers hand-made their 600th bed to donate to one of our own children in the community.
Brian Cyncora, President of the Windsor Branch and his wife Terry, have received over $250,000 in donations since July 14, 2021 and have arranged over 550 bed deliveries and set ups.
As Sleep In Heavenly Peace is solely based on volunteers and is fuelled by donations, local companies can sponsor SHP on “build days”.
As shown in the accompanying photos, along with SHP volunteers, Giant Tiger West (1475 Huron Church Road, Windsor) Manager Taryn Riley-Webb and 28 Giant Tiger employees teamed together and built 27
beds in four hours and also donated $4,272 in bedding and cash. Not only does the recipient get a bed frame and a mattress, but they also receive a pillow, sheet set and a comforter.
Anyone can volunteer to help SHP; children 12 or older, adults, churches, schools, organizations and businesses.
The Filipovski family, World Wide Mattress, the Solcz Family Foundation, and Home Hardware (Tecumseh & Essex locations) are just a few businesses that have donated or helped to supply SHP with raw
lumber, mattresses and monetary donations.
If you would like to make a donation or sponsor a build day, or if your family or a family you know is in need of a bed(s) for children aged three to 17, please go online and fill out the online application.
