University Players Announces Community Partnership through 50×50 Campaign
University Players is celebrating the launch of its 61st season with an enthusiastic commitment to connect with organizations throughout Windsor-Essex through the performing arts.
Over the course of Season 61, University Players will launch 50×50: Community Connections. Through this campaign, University Players will donate 2500 tickets to local charities and non-profit organizations in an effort to bring theatre to more people in the community.
Packages of 50 tickets for 50 different performances will go to 50 community groups locally.
“Here in Windsor-Essex, we have a ton of amazing local theatre groups, and the arts community is so supportive,” says Kristen Siapas, organizer of this year’s campaign.
“We wanted to provide an opportunity for people who might not normally engage in theatre to have a chance to see something new – student actors working with professional directors and designers to create world-class entertainment, right on the University of Windsor campus.” Non-profit groups who are interested in receiving tickets can contact the University Players box office to inquire about availability.
The campaign kicks off with an opening night reception for Shakespeare’s Othello on September 27 at 7pm in the Essex Hall Lobby. All community partners, guests, season subscribers and ticketholders are welcome to attend. University Players offers season packages and individual tickets for 6 shows over the course of the school year. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 519-253- 3000 x2808.
University of Windsor students can purchase a ticket for just $8, and regular price tickets start at $19.
