WALKERVILLE BUSKERFEST 2017
Buskerfest is back again August 11th-13th as performers from Australia, the UK & across Canada converge on Wyandotte Street in Windsor to delight & amaze audiences. The 2017 edition of Walkerville Buskerfest 2017 features interactive fun provided by the new Windsor Circus School, a huge chalk mural and the Jr F.I.R.E. Challenge obstacle course. Lots of patios providing goodies and music stages so the excitement never ends! Visit the Busker Hall of Fame and enjoy late night shows at theWalkerville Brewery.
“We’ve got our work cut out for us to top last year! Audiences were so thankful to have Buskers back in Windsor and Walkerville is a picture perfect setting.” – Mark Lefebvre, Festival Executive Director
Kyle Sipkens, the festival’s new Artistic Director agrees: “Walkerville is already a thriving entertainment destination with incredible patios, unique businesses, and a keen focus on supporting local.” You may recognize Mark & Kyle’s names – or at least their faces. They’re usually 9’ tall and appear as the Stilt Guys annually at Festivals & Events throughout Windsor-Essex and the world. As professional Buskers themselves, they’re thrilled to be the producers of Windsor’s own Buskerfest. “Windsor LOVES their buskers” said Lefebvre. “Last year, people on the street kept thanking the performers! Saying how glad they were the buskers were back!” “We knew we had to bring more and go BIGGER!” continued Sipkens. “We have an A-list of international Buskers including some of Canada’s best! Also more interactive activities and tons of surprises in store.”
Young audience members will be able to kick-start their Busker career at workshops throughout the weekend by the new Windsor Circus School. The festival is also working to make the festival a place more accessible to all audiences, whether they have mobility concerns or sensory disorders with scheduled Relaxed (accessible) Performances at the Olde Walkerville theatre. There will also be ticketed ‘Busk After Dusk’ performances at Walkerville Brewery for the 19+ crowd starting at 11:00PM on Friday & Saturday.
