A Message From WE Chamber President & CEO, Rakesh Naidu

While the current risk to residents of Windsor-Essex posed by COVID-19 remains low, we can take measures to protect our business partners, colleagues, family, and friends. As it stands, social distancing measures have proven to be the most effective means to contain the spread of the virus.

Effective immediately, our physical office space will be closed to the public and the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) staff will practice social distancing and some will work from home. In addition, all WERCC events scheduled to mid-April have been postponed. Events currently scheduled for later dates will be determined in the coming weeks.

The work of the Chamber will continue. We are set-up to work remotely and therefore can connect with you. The Chamber team is committed to providing the highest levels of service to all our Members. More than ever, we recognize the importance of providing our support to our Members. Our services, availability, and responsiveness remain unchanged. Contact information for all WERCC staff is available here.

We will continue to monitor and assess new developments pertaining to COVID-19 closely and work with our Members, partners and all levels of government to provide support to the Windsor-Essex business community.

HELPFUL RESOURCES

To help you prepare for and manage through a potential COVID-19 escalation, our partners at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce have created a guide to assist in business preparedness, supporting employees and continuity efforts. You can also access this guide at our website, www.windsoressexchamber.org.

We have recently been informed that the Canadian Government is seeking information from suppliers on their ability to provide products and services that may help in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses are asked to provide information and complete an electronic form on products and services that may be relevant. We encourage our Member businesses to review the suggested products and services and check back frequently as new information will be updated regularly.

Please use the links below to view other information tools made available to our Members from our valued partners:

BEST PRACTICES

Effective Wednesday, March 18th, only four Canadian airports will accept international travelers: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal. Please note that these restrictions will not apply to trade or commerce.

Canadians who are overseas have been asked to return home while commercial travel is still available. All travelers returning to Canada must self-isolate for 14 days. Canadians are also advised to avoid non-essential travel.

Additional measures are expected to be announced over the coming days. Please see here for a list of complete actions taken by the Government of Canada.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

Tell us how we can best support you. We are taking concerns from the business community and communicating them to all levels of government.

Please contact Keith Chinnery, Director of Membership Services, with any issues you are currently facing due to challenges related to COVID-19. He will work closely with our government partners to ensure your voice is heard.

We look forward to keeping our Members updated with important and timely information to ensure their ongoing success.

Sincerely,

Rakesh Naidu
President & CEO
