Amber Hunter/Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation; Tepperman’s Masoud Negad & Anita Imperioli/In Honour Of The Ones We Love

As of October 1, 2024, Amber Hunter is the new Director of Philanthropy for the Stephanie and Barry Zekelman Foundation. Hunter brings a wealth of experience in the non-profit sector and is an accomplished leader with 27 years of experience in the private and public sectors. Throughout her career she worked for CHUM/Bell Media as a General Sales Manager, for 17 years, and most recently as the Executive Director of Transition to Betterness (T2B) for a decade. “Amber’s deep-rooted connection to our community, excellent relationship-building skills, marketing approach, and proven track record in philanthropy make her the perfect fit for this role,” states Stephanie. “We are confident that Amber’s leadership will help us continue to grow our impact and support the organizations that matter most to us.” As Barry indicates: “Our foundation’s primary goal is to empower communities in Canada and the U.S. by offering support in key areas such as education, youth empowerment, healthcare, arts and fitness.”In her new role, Hunter will oversee the Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives, work closely with local and national organizations in Canada and the U.S. to identify funding opportunities, and ensure that the Foundation’s resources are directed towards programs and initiatives that create lasting positive change and fall within their pillars of giving. “This position allows me to deepen my commitment to impactful collaboration with outstanding organizations,” expresses Hunter. “Together, we can create meaningful, lasting change in our communities.”

Tepperman’s —one of Canada’s leading home furnishings retailers, which started in Windsor — announced, in late October, the promotion of Masoud Negad as Chief Executive Officer, the first non-family member to lead the company since its founding in 1925. Negad’s 36-year journey with Tepperman’s began in 1987, after he emigrated from Iran to Canada. He applied for a selling position in Chatham and was promoted to General Manager in 1991. He moved to Windsor in 1995 and has held key leadership roles, including Buyer, Director of Supply Chain, and Chief Operating Officer. During his impressive career he earned an MBA and a Doctorate in Business Administration. “I am confident that Masoud’s progressive and performance-driven leadership will take Tepperman’s to new heights, while staying true to the values that have defined us as a great place to work and shop, for nearly a century,” states Andrew Tepperman Executive Chairman. HALL OF FAME

Assumption University has announced the recipient of the 2024-2025 Christian Culture Series Gold Medal as Anita Imperioli, Founder and President of In Honour of the Ones We Love. Since 1997, her organization (InHonour.ca) has grown into a prominent charitable organization dedicated to supporting cancer care, and other life-threatening illnesses and disabilities and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to aid individuals, hospitals, and community health agencies. To date, Imperioli has led over 60 projects, including providing essential items, like chemotherapy ports and comfort carts, as well as establishing amenities such as playrooms, blanket warmers, a residential home for cancer patients, and developing programs like scholarships, bereavement kits, and a cystic fibrosis program. She has also launched the Emara Café (Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare), the Gift of Health mental health program, a breakfast program, critical care defibrillators, and the Kids Beating Cancer therapeutic martial arts program.
