Run for Rocky Legacy Day

It has been 5 years since the last Run for Rocky event and today, Saturday April 9th, marks Run for Rocky Legacy Day. The following outlines Run for Rocky present and near future endeavours.

The Run for Rocky Walk/Run will return after a 5 year hiatus on Pride Fest Weekend this August. The Campana Family is ecstatic to be working with the Windsor Essex PrideFest committee to bring back this very popular event. More details will be released in the near future

Today at 11 am the Progressive Pride flag was raised at the Charles Park Square in downtown Windsor and will remain up for a week to commemorate Run for Rocky Day.

The City of Windsor’s official Proclamation follows.

Next Week-The Run for Rocky Legacy Project will be distributing GSA Teacher Leader Toolbox Kits. This is a project that was put on hold due to covid restrictions. Now that GSA Clubs are starting to meet once again in person in the high school system, we are excited to get this toolkit into teacher’s hands to help support their efforts. Motor City Community Credit Union has been a partner on this project. This is an investment of over $4000.00 in local GSA’s and a second distribution of boxes will take place as needed.

May 1st is the final day for graduating GSA high school students to submit their application for the Rocky Campana Annual GSA Leadership Memorial Scholarship. Applications can be downloaded online.

The week of May 31st-the rainbow crosswalk will be painted going into the entrance at Zehrs in LaSalle. This is a project that the Run for Rocky Legacy Projected helped to spearhead when approached by Brenda Bot Drake. LaSalle businesses will also have the opportunity to become familiar with how to be part of a welcoming 2SLBGTQ+ community during this week. Watch for our LaSalle PROUD campaign during the first week of June.
